Project 1 — Client Needed: More Qualified Enquiries From Their Digital Presence

Project Background

The client had an established online presence and was actively marketing across several digital channels, but activity was not consistently translating into meaningful customer enquiries. They approached Mary Creatives to identify what was limiting performance and develop a more focused approach to reaching, engaging and converting the audiences most valuable to the business.

What We Found

Our initial review identified declining acquisition and engagement alongside limited conversion activity. While the business had an established digital presence and was attracting website visitors through several channels, the activity was not consistently translating into meaningful customer enquiries.

The review showed that the challenge was not simply a lack of marketing activity. Content, search, social media and other digital touchpoints were already contributing to the business’s visibility, but they were operating without a sufficiently connected strategic direction. Audiences could discover and interact with the business, yet the journey from initial awareness through to consideration and enquiry was not always clear.

Organic search was already contributing meaningful traffic, highlighting existing audience demand and presenting a strong opportunity for further growth. However, other channels required clearer roles within the wider marketing journey so that each activity supported a specific objective rather than operating independently.

We also identified an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between content and audience intent. Existing content was generating visibility, but a more purposeful approach was needed to address customer needs at different stages of the journey, build credibility and guide interested audiences towards taking action.

Overall, the findings pointed towards the need for a more coordinated digital approach — one that connected audience targeting, content, search, channel activity and conversion pathways around a common objective: attracting the right people and creating a clearer route from discovery to enquiry.

What We Did

Mary Creatives developed a coordinated digital approach centred around three key priorities: audience acquisition, engagement and conversion. Rather than treating individual marketing channels as separate activities, the strategy was designed to create a more connected journey from the moment a potential customer discovered the business through to the point of enquiry.

We refined the target audience to create a clearer understanding of who the business needed to reach, what those audiences were looking for and the factors likely to influence their decisions. This informed the wider customer journey and helped ensure that marketing activity was focused on attracting relevant audiences rather than simply increasing overall visibility or traffic.

The customer journey was then reviewed to identify how different digital touchpoints could support audiences at each stage. Greater attention was given to the transition between awareness, consideration, engagement and enquiry, creating clearer pathways for potential customers to move through the digital experience without unnecessary friction.

Each digital channel was also given a more defined role within the wider strategy. Organic search was positioned as an important route for reaching audiences actively looking for relevant information and services, while website content was developed to provide useful information, demonstrate credibility and support customers during the consideration process.

Content activity was strengthened around audience needs and search intent, creating a more purposeful connection between what potential customers were searching for and the information they encountered. Rather than producing content simply to maintain activity, topics and formats were selected according to their role within the customer journey and their ability to support wider marketing objectives.

Social media activity was structured to strengthen awareness, distribute relevant content and maintain engagement with audiences across multiple touchpoints. Campaign activity was used more selectively around defined objectives, audiences and actions, helping ensure that promotional activity supported the wider strategy rather than operating independently.

We also strengthened the pathways towards enquiry by considering how interested visitors were encouraged to take the next step. Calls to action, content journeys and key customer touchpoints were aligned more closely so that users who demonstrated stronger intent had clearer opportunities to engage with the business.

Throughout the project, performance was reviewed to understand how audiences were responding to the changes. Insights from acquisition, engagement, content performance and conversion activity were used to refine the approach, allowing the strategy to develop based on audience behaviour rather than relying solely on the original plan.

The result was a more structured digital marketing ecosystem in which search, content, social activity, campaigns and conversion pathways worked together towards the same commercial objective — reaching the right audiences, building meaningful engagement and turning digital interest into customer enquiries.

How We Delivered It

The project was delivered through a structured, phased approach that allowed Mary Creatives to move from insight into implementation while continuously reviewing how audiences responded.

We began by translating the findings from the initial review into clear priorities for the project. Rather than attempting to improve every channel at once, activity was organised around the areas with the greatest potential to influence audience acquisition, engagement and customer enquiries. This provided a practical roadmap for delivery and ensured that each activity had a defined purpose.

Audience insights were then used to shape the messaging and content direction. We considered what potential customers needed at different stages of their journey, from initially discovering the business through to comparing their options and deciding whether to make contact. Content was planned around those needs so that each touchpoint could contribute to moving the audience forward.

Organic search formed an important part of the delivery. Search behaviour and audience intent were used to identify relevant themes and opportunities, with website content developed and refined around the information potential customers were actively looking for. This helped connect visibility in search with useful, relevant experiences once visitors reached the website.

Social media supported the wider strategy by extending the reach of key messages and content.

Rather than operating as a separate stream of activity, social content was coordinated with broader marketing priorities, allowing campaigns, educational content and brand messaging to reinforce one another across different audience touchpoints.

Campaign activity was introduced around specific objectives and audience groups. Messaging, creative direction and calls to action were developed according to the intended outcome of each campaign, creating a clearer connection between promotional activity and the actions the business wanted potential customers to take.

The website journey was also refined to make progression towards enquiry more intuitive. Key pages, calls to action and conversion touchpoints were reviewed so that interested visitors could more easily understand the next step and make contact when they were ready.

Continuous Optimisation

Delivery was not treated as a one-time implementation.

Performance was reviewed throughout the project to understand which channels were attracting relevant audiences, which content generated stronger engagement and where users were progressing or dropping away.

Those insights informed ongoing adjustments to content, messaging, channel activity and conversion pathways. Stronger-performing activity could be expanded, while areas producing weaker responses could be refined or redirected.

This created a continuous cycle:

Plan → Activate → Measure → Learn → Optimise

By combining structured delivery with ongoing performance analysis, Mary Creatives was able to progressively strengthen the client’s digital activity rather than relying on a fixed strategy established at the beginning of the project.

The Outcome of the Approach

By the end of the engagement, the client’s previously disconnected digital activities were operating as a more coordinated system. Search attracted relevant audiences, content supported consideration, social and campaign activity strengthened engagement, and clearer conversion pathways helped turn that interest into customer enquiries.
